Wings recently arrived on DVD (plus Digital UltraViolet), Video On Demand and Pay-Per-View February 4th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The film will be available on Digital HD two weeks early on January 21st.
Wings was awarded the DOVE Seal of Approval, this “wonderful family film that all ages can enjoy” (The Dove Foundation) about a plane that dreams of flying high features the all-star voice talent of Josh Duhamel (Safe Haven), Hilary Duff (A Cinderella Story), Rob Schneider (Grown Ups), Jesse McCartney (Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked) and Tom Skerritt (Top Gun). With music by Jesse McCartney, the Wings DVD includes a behind-the-scenes featurette and a sneak peek of award-winning shorts from Miniscule.
My son, who is three, loves this movie. If he had it his way, we would be watching it daily. Ace (Josh Duhamel), a young aircraft fighter, overhears that there is a big airshow coming up and learns of an opening on the team to replace their top performer who died in a previous competition.
Ace happens to be at the right place at the right time and is allowed into this highly regarded competition. He seeks out the Colonel (Tom Skerritt), a grumpy, retired aircraft fighter, to train him for the competition. Along the way, he befriends a bird named “Dodo” (Rob Schneider), some retired planes, and their fitness instructor, Windy (Hilary Duff). There is also a jealous competitor who plays dirty to get to the top and will not stop until he wins named “Cyclone” (Jesse McCartney).
Wings is colorful, features animated planes and jets that seem to be a hit with many young children, and periodically mischief from some chubby little blackbirds who like to taunt Dodo. Ace has to work hard in Wings for what he hopes to do and unexpectedly rescues a friend in need.
