Where the Crawdads Sing

Where the Crawdads Sing arrived on digital and Blu-ray on September 6th and 13th respectively. This movie is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Delia Owens. I have not read the novel yet but would like to.

This movie tells the story of Kya. Her mother left the family due to the abuse sustained by their father and one by one, her siblings also ran away. Kya was the youngest child left to survive with her father. Then one day, her father left too. Kya was left as a young girl to fend for her own in the marshlands of North Carolina.

In the neighboring community of Barkley Cove, Kya was known as the “Marsh Girl”. Her heart belonged to a young man named Tate who had to leave their small community in order to fulfill his dreams to attend college and better himself.

Years had gone by and Kya met another young man named Chase Andrews. Chase was found dead one day at the base of an abandoned fire tower. With Kya being in the area and known to have a relationship with Chase, she was labeled in the community as the main suspect. The case unfolded in the courtroom with what actually happened becoming more and more unclear.

This is a great movie for adults. My husband and I got to sit down together and watch it. Where the Crawdads Sing is rated PG-13 for sexual content and there is attempted sexual assault in the film on Kya. This film is suspenseful to the very end and the storyline is unique.

This film also includes over 17 minutes of never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes synopsis. The run time is 125 minutes.

Other Bonus Materials Include:

•Women in Focus: From its captivating central character, Kya, crafted by author Delia Owens to the incredible team of women at the helm of the film adaptation, this piece is a testament to the strength, determination, and resilience of women both onscreen and behind the scenes.

14 Deleted & Extended Scenes: See more of the marsh, mystery, and magic in this collection of deleted and extended scenes.
