2013 MINNEAPOLIS HOME & GARDEN SHOW

Featuring DIY, HGTV, Project Runway and Top Chef Stars:  Feb. 27 – March 3


The 2013 Minneapolis Home & Garden Show, the official kick-off to spring, will take place February 27 through March 3 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. For five days the Show is sure to inspire homeowners with its more than 1,000 experts sharing new ideas and practical advice as well as hundreds of exhibits featuring innovative products and services. The Show boasts great deals and shopping experiences all related to home, gardening, remodeling, and home décor. Tickets are now on sale online at www.homeandgardenshow.com.

This year’s celebrity presenter lineup includes an impressive list of nationally-known as well as locally-grown home and garden experts, including:

· Chris Crary, Bravo’s “Top Chef” Season 9 “Fan Favorite” – Thursday on the Kitchen Stage;

· Christopher Straub, Season 6 “Project Runway” contestant – Thursday on the Lifestyle Stage;
· DIY Network’s “Bath Crashers” host Matt Muenster – Friday and Saturday on the Lifestyle Stage;
· DIY Network’s “Rehab Addict” host Nicole Curtis – Friday and Sunday on the Lifestyle Stage;
· HGTV’s Season 7 “Design Star” finalist Rachel Kate – Saturday and Sunday on the Lifestyle Stage;
· And, HGTV’s “Decorating Cents” and “Curb Appeal” host Sasha Andreev will be on-site throughout the show offering information about the latest home improvement solutions.


Other highlights of the 2013 Minneapolis Home & Garden Show will include new exhibits and old favorites, such as:

· The Idea Home – “The Woman-Centered Home” by Michael Lee, Inc.
This 1,700 square foot home will feature rooms designed specifically with today’s woman in mind.  A spa bathroom, gourmet kitchen, craft room, and three-season porch are just a few of the rooms to explore. Rachel Kate of HGTV’s “Design Star” will collaborate with HOM Furniture to present an interior design plan that incorporates today’s trends and will give homeowners plenty of ideas to bring to their own home. 

· The Feature Gardens presented by Star Tribune
“Classic TV” is the theme of this year’s Feature Gardens. Landscapers will turn up their creative dials with their renditions of such television hits as “Gilligan’s Island,” “Home Improvement,” “Miami Vice,” “Fantasy Island,” “Gunsmoke,” “I Dream of Jeannie,” “Green Acres,” “Leave It To Beaver,” and “Cheers.”

· Garden Theater
Learn from some of the country’s most knowledgeable gardening experts. The Garden Theater is presented by the Minnesota Horticultural Society in partnership with Northern Gardener.

· NEW:  “Pinspired Design” in the Naturally Urban Apartment by Linder’s
See what’s hot in plant and home décor for apartment and condo living with inspiration provided by Linder’s new division, Naturally Urban. Spring décor projects will be shared “Pinterest-style.”

· NEW:  Lake & Leisure Feature
This new exhibit area will focus on vacation destinations, outdoor activities, sporting goods, and cabin life.

· NEW:  Backyard Paradise by Performance Pool and Spa
Learn how to create a relaxing oasis right in your own backyard. Located adjacent to the Idea Home, Performance Pool and Spa will display fountains, spas with cabanas, an outdoor kitchen, as well as both an in-ground and above ground pools.

· Green Scene
Check out the latest in environmentally friendly products and services from local companies in the Green Scene. Homeowners will learn of everything new that will help make their homes earth friendly.

· Innovation Avenue
See the newest products in home, décor, kitchen and bath, and outdoor living.

· Taste on Third Avenue
From tasty snacks to gourmet treats, guests can sample a variety of foods, sip some wine, check out new kitchen gadgets, and browse unique exhibits.

Wednesday, February 27          12 – 9 p.m.      
Hero Day:  active and retired military, police officers, and fire fighters receive free admission.                 

Thursday, February 28             10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Senior Day: discounted admission for seniors (60+)
Star Tribune Day:  Readers will receive a $3 off admission coupon 
Friday, March 1                        10 a.m. – 10 p.m.                   
Saturday, March 2                    9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Sunday, March 3                      9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Kids Day:  Entertainment and activities for the whole family, including an appearance by Choo Choo Bob and all-day fun with Radio Disney.


Tickets prices for adults are $11 online and $13 at the door; $4 for children ages six – 12; children under five are free. The $2 off admission discount available online is courtesy of American Family Insurance.
