Thermal-Aid Zoo Animal Natural Heating and Cooling Pack Review

November 23, 2012 by Karen

Thermal-Aid has created an attractive, cute, and cuddly way to soothe away aches and pains for children.  They have recently introduced a line of Thermal-Aid Zoo Animals.  There are five in the product line:  Tiny the Elephant, Baxter the Rabbit, Ollie the Koala, JoJo the Monkey, and Happy the Hippo.

This is a 100% natural heating and cooling pack for children, recommend for ages 3 and above.  These little cuddly critters have natural cotton on the exterior and then a specially engineered corn in their tummy area that will hold temperatures for a long period of time.  The germ is removed from the corn kernel, removing practically all moisture, and thus preventing mold and fungi from developing.  The segments of corn harden and then retain the desired hot or cold temperature.

Thermal-Aid Zoo Animals are recommended to use for fever, sunburn, earaches, flu symptoms, sprains, bee stings, headaches, sore muscles, growing pains, insomnia, bumps and bruises, and much more.

To use for cooling, just place the Thermal-Aid Zoo Animal in the freezer for approximately five hours.  The exact cooling time may vary depending on the settings of your freezer.  To use for heating, place the Thermal-Aid Zoo Animal on a clean surface in the center of the microwave oven for approximately 45-60 seconds.  The exact heating time may vary upon the setting of your microwave and desired temperature.  The product type may play a role in the variance of heating and cooling too.  You should not allow the Zoo Animal to touch the microwave walls and do not put in a conventional oven.

We placed Baxter in our 1100 watt microwave for 45 seconds.  He held the temperature well for about 45 minutes-1 hr. and felt like snuggling your hands around a warm cup of cocoa.  My daughters wanted to take him to bed, especially after he was heated.  How soothing!  It has recently been quite cool here in Minnesota and everyone is healthy (knock on wood) so we haven’t wanted to try Buster chilled yet.  He is probably much more comforting than an ice pack wrapped in a towel and doesn’t get wet from condensation.  The belly seems to hold the temperature well.  The specially engineered corn is not in the head or limbs.
My daughter who recently turned six is pictured here with Baxter.  He is not a small stuffed animal so I feel the heating/cooling from his belly area only is quite sufficient.
This product can be washed.  Hand wash only, do not soak.  Do not use the washing machine or dry clean.  You can use warm/hot water and mild soap.  Then lather, rinse and drip dry.  The animal must be fully dried before using again.
Thermal-Aid Zoo Animals are a product of Pacific Shore Holdings, Inc.  They come with a limited lifetime warranty and have a suggested retail of $19.95 each.  They are available at www.thermal-aid.com, Amazon, Costco, CVS, Walgreens, and other natural food and natural product stores across the nation.
Thermal-Aid Zoo Animals are a great idea for the holidays.  This is a neat way to spread the joy and warmth of the holiday season with others.  🙂  Thermal-Aid also manufactures Thermal-Aid Bears, heating and cooling packs for pets, and different sizes of heating and cooling pads for adults.
You can learn more about Thermal-Aid and their products by visiting their website, Twitter handle, and Facebook.
I received a Thermal-Aid Zoo Animal for this review.  No other compensation was received.  The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.
