This weekend, I sat down with part of my family to watch THE PAPER TIGERS. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I hadn’t heard much about this title, but in reviewing it, I was pleasantly surprised by how very good it was.
This film debuts on Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow from Well Go USA Entertainment. THE PAPER TIGERS shows us the history of three kung fu disciples that develops during their teen years. Then 25 years have passed. These three young men are now middle-aged and are no longer connected. They are busy juggling their careers, facing physical limitations with their bodies, and trying to manage fatherhood. When the master of these three men from their past, Sifu Cheung, is murdered, it reunites these three men to avenge his death and to withhold his honor.
THE PAPER TIGERS stars Alain Uy (“Helstrom,” “True Detective”), Ron Yuan (Mulan, “Marco Polo”), and Mykel Shannon Jenkins (The Gods, Undisputed III: Redemption). Following its world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival, THE PAPER TIGERS played numerous festivals around the world, winning the Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at the Boston Asian American Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature Film at the Seattle Asian American Film Festival.
THE PAPER TIGERS has a runtime of approximately 111 minutes and is rated PG-13 for some strong language, offensive slurs, and violence. It’s an awesome feel-good movie for teens and adults!
