I hear more and more about these icky little critters – bed bugs. I thought they were just a problem in hotels, but I have recently heard in the news that many homeowners are plagued by them too. There is a free public database of them being sited – http://bedbugregistry.com/.
If by chance you have not heard of bed bugs before, we are their preferred host. They suck the blood of humans, but will also feed off other small animals, like dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, or rats. This parasite can hitch hike a ride into your home on your pet if they spend time both indoors and outside. Sometimes you can notice a cluster of small red bites.
Adult bed bugs can be seen with the naked eye. Bed bugs are noted as hitch hikers on luggage too. They like to feed when we are sleeping and there preferred nesting spot is beds!
Over 60% of the people who receive bed bug bites are by nature not allergic to the bite, and in turn means no visible markings of a bit will appear. In addition, bed bugs administer and anesthetic into the human blood stream with a bite that leaves us sound asleep and completely unaware of night time attacks. (http://bedbugpatch.com/about.html)
Yuck!!!
The Original BedBug Patch is a natural way to help prevent bed bugs. It masks the smell of the CO2 released through our skin with vitamin B1 that has been absorbed from the Original BedBug Patch.
To apply the patch, you remove the backing and apply to a clean, dry, and hairless skin at least two hours before you need protection. The BedBug Patch may be worn up to 36 hours to ensure complete absorption. The patch works as a repellent and a deterrent.
Thankfully I have not noticed any evidence of bed bugs in my home and hope to keep it that way. I would used a BedBug Patch with a hotel stay and found some ways to protect luggage from them and how to prevent transferring bed bugs into our homes at http://www.everydayhealth.com/healthy-home-pictures/how-to-keep-bed-bugs-out-of-your-house.aspx#/slide-1
