The Decal Guru Car Decal Review

IMG_3985 Disclosure:  I received product from The Decal Guru in exchange for an honest review.

The Decal Guru strives to offer the best and largest selection of custom vinyl decals for your MacBook, iPad, iPhone, vehicle, window, or pretty much any other smooth surface.  Their decals are cut from Oracal 631 Series exhibition calendered vinyl.  The adhesive used is residue-free.

For this review, I selected the “Believe In Yourself” car decal.  It came in a 7″ width with the colors of red and white and is $8.99.  This decal did not come with application instructions, but there was an application video available online.  I have shared the video at the bottom of this post too.

“Believe In Yourself” came in two sections.  I cleaned the back window of my minivan and then taped the section with the red lettering onto the glass.  Also make sure your application surface is completely dry before applying.

I did not have masking tape on hand and used packaging tape to secure it to the window.  The packaging tape was a messy substitute.IMG_4130 Then you want to swipe the decal with a credit card.  I had a plastic device on hand from a wall vinyl that I put up in my home.  It was a bit more thick and less flexible than a credit card.IMG_4131

Then you will want to left and peel off the white backing.

Then lower the decal back down.  I suggest to start slowly at the top by tape and work down.  It is very sticky and once it lays back down at this point, it seems to be almost impossible to re-position.

Smooth out the air bubbles with a credit card or the liking.

Slowly peel off the decal at an angle.

Here is the first half of the decal.

Then I did the same technique with the second set of wording.  I could have maybe trimmed the edging around the red lettering section and placed both down at the same time side by side, but I didn’t think about that option until afterward.  I tried to put both sections down as they came and the backing overlapped.

It was tricky to line up the white lettering with the end of the red lettering.  My white lettering section slants a little, but still shares an important message.

If I did a car decal again, I think I would do a single color.  My husband thought the red was difficult to read on the tinted window.  If you decide to sell the vehicle or want to change the vinyl decal, just peel up the letter/image to easily remove.

The Decal Guru allows you to select from one of their designs or they can customize from a forwarded picture or even an idea you might have.  They can even customize the size of the design beyond what is listed on their website by e-mailing them at info@thedecalguru.com.
