The BugPatch – Natural Insect Repellent Review

December 19, 2012 by Karen

One of the few benefits to our cold winters in Minnesota is the lack of insects.  There may be an occasional Asian beetle in the house, but that’s it.  🙂  I can’t say the same for late spring when the land of 10,000 lakes starts to resemble mosquito haven.
If you would like to try a chemical free patch to protect against mosquitoes, consider The Bug Patch.  It is a transdermal patch that also works to protect adults and kids from no see-ums, ticks, and more.
This patch sends Vitamin B1 throughout the blood stream, which is then secreted through your pores as you sweat.  The Vitamin B1 being excreted masks the odor of carbon dioxide, which attracts these nuisance insects.
The Bug Patch should be applied two or more hours before protection is needed and can be worn 24-36 hours to insure protection for up to 12 hours after it has been removed.  Children should be over one year of age to use one patch.  Adults and children over 80 lbs. may wear one to two patches.  Vitamin B1 (thiamin/thiamine) has another benefit – it inhibits the allergic reaction normally created by insect bites!  Cool!
Don’t worry about too much Vitamin B1 in your system from using The BugPatch.  It is water soluble so any excess will be excreted out of your body.
For best results with The BugPatch, it is recommended that you apply to the upper arm, shoulder, lower back, or lower abdominal area.  These areas are usually protected by clothing and have less hair present.  It is also recommended to rotate among these locations for better Vitamin B1 absorption.

To use:

  1. Open the main package, don’t worry about compromising the integrity of the other patches inside.  As long as the patches are still firmly sealed to the backing they will be alright.

  2. Remove the patch from its backing.  Usually a couple flicks of the finger nail will get you the leverage to pull it off.

  3. Place the bug patch on a clean, dry, and hairless section of skin 2 hour before full protection is needed so the Vitamin B1 has time to spread throughout your whole body for full body protection!

  4. Move!  If you’re moving or sweating that means that absorption of the Vitamin B1 will be facilitated through your skin and then back out your pours more effectively.  Once the Vitamin B1 is pulsing through your veins you can enjoy that long lasting all natural bug repellent effect you’ve been waiting for!

I look forward to trying The BugPatch out this spring.  It will be new to my arsenal against pesky insects.

The BugPatch can be purchased at www.theoriginalbugpatch.com.  It is available in packages with 12-72 patches that range from $10-45.  This product is made in the U.S.A.  The BugPatch is a featured product on Jeff Foxworthy Outdoors.

Disclosure:  I received The BugPatch samples for this review.  No other compensation was received.  The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.
