I have some unique products to share with you today. Through being a Naturally Savvy Team Blogger, I received Teeccino Herbal Coffe and TeeChia Gluten-free Super Seeds cereal. They are both made from organic and GMO-free ingredients.
Teeccino is a coffee alternative. I had heard of it just a few years ago, but it has been in the natural foods marketplace for 17 years. Teeccino is noted for its numerous health benefits. It is naturally caffeine free, non-acidic, heart healthy with soluble fiber and potassium, and noted to be good for digestive health. It contains inulin which is derived naturally from chicory root. The inulin helps to support good gut bacteria.
Teeccino comes in individually wrapped single serve bags or bagged as an all-purpose grind. There is a Mediterranean line that is 75% organic. It has the richness of roasted almonds with the sweetness of dates and figs. It is great for those who would normally put sugar in their coffee, but would not be a product for those who have nut allergies. There is also the Maya line that is labeled USDA Organic. It has a dark roasted body and preferred by those who enjoy the bitter profile of unsweetened coffee and has no tree nuts.
Teeccino can be enjoyed many ways. It can be an afternoon or evening drink without the fear of caffeine keeping you up at night, makes a natural “decaf”, can be made into an iced Teeccino or dessert beverage that is enhanced with liqueur, or even a drink for the kids without sugar or other stimulants.
Trying Teeccino, I was impressed by the non-acidic taste it presents itself with like coffee that is cold brewed. I like the fact that Teeccino creates a natural energy boost from nutrients and not stimulants. This coffee alternative comes in many flavors to suite your personal taste. My personal favorite is the Teeccino in Chocolate Mint.
Teeccino may be blended with coffee and create a less acidic taste. You can adjust Teeccino to your own personal taste, just like coffee drinkers would adjust their Cup of Joe. This product would be a nice alternative to women during pregnancy or those who have been told to cut out/reduce caffeine or acidity due to health reasons, but miss the taste of coffee.
The second product I was sent, which is made by the same company as Teeccino, is TeeChia. It is a brand new cereal made from nutrient dense super seeds. It is to be a nutritious meal that is quick and easy to prepare. It contains chia and flax that helps slow the absorption of carbohydrates and thus creates lasting energy and the feeling of fullness.
To use TeeChia, simply place 1/3 c. of TeeChia in a bowl and 1/2 c. hot water or 1/3 c. cold water.
Stir and let soak until water is absorbed (less than 1 minute). Add milk, yogurt, or any non-dairy alternative. If extra sweetness is desired, add fresh berries, apples, or bananas.
I was sent a sample bag of the Cinnamon Cranberry and 10.6 oz. bag or the Blueberry Date, which contains six servings. There is also a 2.2 lb. bag available 20 servings. This product is packaged in a facility that does handle tree nuts.
I love the idea behind TeeChia. It contains organic chia, flax, quinoa, amaranth, ramon, and Oregon pumpkin seeds plus organic rolled oats. It is sweetened just with dried dates and fruit. Just think of this in your breakfast bowl: 6 g fiber, 1100 mg ALA Omega-3 fatty acids, antixodants, 26 gwhole grains, and 6 g protein. That’s amazing!
I tried the TeeChia I was sent with 1% milk and did not add anything else to fully observe the taste and texture. I had prepared it with hot water before adding the milk. It has consistency that I would compare to cooked oatmeal. This cereal would be a big adjustment for someone who is used to a sugary cereal. I found I liked it better with cut up apples or honey added. TeeChia certainly curbed my hunger a lot longer than other commercial cereals I have used in the past or even to a couple pieces of toast with peanut butter.
I recently noticed that the TeeChia website has a few recipes. I look forward to trying the energy cookies sometime in the near future.
