Sorry, these images are now a few weeks old. Just haven’t had time to put them up!
A new project this summer is a trellis made out of treated spindles and boards for our cucumbers and we are trying a few pails of acorn squash too. The theory is that once the plants get tall enough, they climb on the top, making it easier to view cucumbers for picking. Sometimes the little guys perfect for pickling get away from us.
We had an old wooden door cut down and again, more treated spindles and boards, (got a good deal on a building materials auction) with chicken wire for a outdoor chicken run. It is light enough for us to move around in the yard.
Here are our new pets – 10 Australorp chickens to raise for egg laying. We found out a few weeks ago that one in the bunch must have been incorrectly sexed because it strongly resembles a rooster! He has taller, dark red comb in the middle of group. We got them as day old chicks on April 30th, 2012.
Busy on the move…
Little frog blending in with an outlet box outside
Here is our pipe garden again from last year. We are on year #2. This is some itty bitty kale. Pipes are 8″ in diameter
My small beets. We did not try these in the pipes last year.
Dill started from seed. The darn deer have been mowing this down to nothing. It has been so wet, but I am trying to recover them with milorganite since deer are detoured by the smell of it and it is an organic fertilizer.
Peppers on top row. We had not planted much on this side at time picture was taken, but things are slowly progressing. I will keep you posted on our adventure/misadventures in gardening.
