SparX are tiny, bite-sized candies that are packaged into 4 gram packages with a mix of natural flavors: citrus (orange, lime, and tangerine), berry (blueberry, strawberry, and raspberry), or fruit (banana, apple, and grape).
SparX candy is sweetened with xylitol, a natural sweetener made from birch trees, corn cobs, and other natural sources. It tastes like sugar, but has fewer calories and has minimal effects on blood-sugar levels. Xylitol is absorbed slowly by the body, creating a glycemic index of seven instead of 83 or higher like sugar.
Xylitol helps to make the surface of the teeth slippery and thus decreases the ability of bacteria to stick to the tooth and form plaque. It takes just 15 grams or more of xylitol per day to create this effect. Studies have shown that when combined with regular dental hygiene, daily use of xylitol oral products, like gum, mints, and candy can decrease cavities by as much as 80%!!!
I didn’t see an age recommended, but with being small, hard, candy dots, I would supervise young children while consuming. My son at almost two lost quite a few while feeding himself to the kitchen floor, but thoroughly enjoyed those that made the trip to his mouth.
