It seems like sales to buy Christmas gifts start earlier and earlier each year, but what about the true meaning of Christmas? It seems to get mumbled behind modern commercialism. The Sparkle Box wants to leave you with joy and peace this season and reflect upon the true meaning of this wonderful holiday.
The Sparkle Box features a boy named Sam. With Christmas soon approaching, his mind is on new toys and making a Christmas list. One day he comes home and sees a sparkling box on the mantel. Sam is curious if it is meant to be a special gift for him, but his mother will not tell him more about the box other than them needing to fill it.
Sam and his mother give food and blankets to a local shelter the next day. Then they notice a man sleeping on a park bench. The man makes Sam appreciate the home, food, and other material possessions he has. Christmas is getting closer and a few more important moments happen to Sam and his family, like donating to a village that needs clean water and running into the man from the park bench and being able to give him a treat and new mittens.
Christmas has arrived and now it is time to open The Sparkle Box. Sam sits down with his parents and find a few pieces of paper in the box that reflect the recent moments of giving to others and are a gift to Jesus. In the back of the book, a Sparkle Box is included for you to assemble.
You can write down the special gifts you’re giving in honor of Jesus’ birthday, and put them in your Sparkle Box to open on Christmas morning.
The Sparkle Box is a great book to share and rekindle the importance of helping others during the season or frankly anytime of the year. The illustrations are warm and colorful. This book is a hardcover with a dust cover and is 32 pages.
