Sol Republic DECK Wireless Speaker Review and Giveaway

One of my more secret interests is technology.  I have fallen a bit behind since we started our family, but I still enjoy gadgets.  I was sent the DECK by SOL REPUBLIC x Motorola to try out over the last few weeks and stay tuned because one reader gets to win one! 🙂

Features of the DECK:

Heist Modeâ„¢ allows you to wirelessly sync up to five friends at the same time and battle for control of the sound.  In this mode, you can only pair for music play.  You must be in single user mode to use your DECK for phone calls.  With Heist, there are different colors that come across the status light for each player.

The Multi-Function Button (Motorola button) allows you to play and pause music, answer and end calls, Outdoor Mode, Heistâ„¢ Lock.  Heistâ„¢ Lock allows you to lock play to the last user so you don’t have to worry about others taking over with their tunes.  With the NFC Reader, simply touch the device in this location to pair.

The DECK needs to be charged first.  A USB cable with micro USB port is included.  Plug the AC adaptor into a wall outlet and when it is fully charged, the status light will illuminate green.  Once the device is fully charged, it should give you about 10 hours of playtime.  The battery is designed to last the life of the device so you should never remove it.  There are voice prompts to let you know if you are paired and status of battery life.

You can pair by two ways with this device.  There is the Bluetooth® EASYPAIRâ„¢ method and by NFCâ„¢.  You can also use the included 3.5mm cable to connect with a non-Bluetooth enabled device.  Multiple DECKS can also be connected by the supplied audio cable.   

IMG_5352The DECK comes with a carry case, USB cable, AC adapter, manual, and 3.5mm audio cable that are in a bit of an elusive compartment of the packaging.  The carry case does seem to affect the sound quality and volume, so I would recommend using DECK without it on.  The housing of this unit appears to be of a hard plastic with a rubberized back to help keep it in place.

The DECK provides crisp sound with awesome bass in a small package, only weighing 11.5 oz.   It’s highly portable with great execution.  Sol Republic DECK has a list price of $199.99 and has a 1 year warranty.  It is available in three colors:  Electro Blue, Gunmetal, and Lemon Lime.     Karen, This is a great speaker. Do you know where I could get the carry case? I lost the one that came with it. Motorola does not sell it separate.
