I had received the Soda Stream Jet to review a few weeks ago. All of the items pictured above came in my review box. Sweet! SodaStream was so generous.
SodaStream allows you to make soda or carbonated water right in your own home. You can turn your tap water into sparkling water in as little as three seconds!
It also comes with a 1 liter plastic bottle that is BPA free and the website says it can be used up to three years before replacing. They are designed to be tough and withstand the high pressure from the drink makers.
Here is the Jet and Stream. It comes with a 60 liter CO2 cylinder, but is made to also accommodate a 130 liter CO2 cylinder.
The steps to use SodaStream are very user friendly.
Remove the back cover of drink maker.
Then uncap and screw the CO2 cylinder in the back of the soda maker. Position back cover over cylinder and lock into place.
There is a fill line for water marked on the bottle. Try to use very cold water. Then screw the bottle into the front of the machine while pushing the tilt lever.
Press the carbonating button in short presses all the way down. You will hear a buzzing sound. It surprised me at first. Three full compressions (3 buzzes) provide average carbonation. Repeat if you would like extra fizz.
Turn bottle and push tilt lever to unscrew from drink maker.
The instructions say to tilt bottle as you are adding soda mix flavor. I did not tilt. I used a single mix pouch (makes 1 liter) for the following images.
Tightly screw on cap. Shake the bottle gently.
Now to enjoy. This was done with the orange flavored soda mix. The flavor was quite impressive.
When emptied, the carbonating bottles are to be rinsed in lukewarm water. They are not dishwasher safe.
I was surprised to see that I even got to sample SodaStream’s MyWater flavor essence. MyWater adds a hint of fruit flavor to sparkling water. It is just 1/2 tsp. of MyWater to one liter of regular or sparkling water. They are 40 ml glass bottles and each is to make 20 servings. The instructions say to consume within six weeks of opening. So far I have only tried the raspberry.
I have sampled quite a few of the flavors and have found them quite pleasing. There are many different flavored syrups to try, over 60.
The diet/free formulations use Splenda as a sweetener. None of the regular flavors contain high fructose corn syrup or aspartame in the diet sodas, which is a big plus. Some of the regular soda mix flavors contain sugar or sugar/Splenda as sweeteners.
Disclosure: I received a SodaStream for this review. The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own. No other compensation was received.
