Smilebox was founded in 2005 with a team devoted to create engaging, new, and exciting ways to share photos and videos with family and friends. In August of 2011, Smilebox was acquired by Perion Network Ltd. The company continues on the mission to connect people and share special moments in our lives, no matter how big or small.
I had been using the “free” version of Smilebox over the last couple years to share usually cards produced with music to friends and family. The receivers could view the cards with no problems, they just had the addition of a few ads on the side when viewing what they had received. The free version allows you to share your creations on Facebook, blog, or by e-mail.
You can also join the Smilebox Club for $39.99 a year or $5.99 a month. The membership allows you to view full screen playback that is free of ads. You can also print your creation from home or the store. Images may be burned to a DVD or saved to a digital photo frame. There is unlimited storage for what you create and you can use the 2000+ songs with Smilebox or use your own. The Smilebox Club has a 14 day trial that you can cancel at any time.
Smilebox has over 1000 customizable designs. There are a ton of designs with the application you download and then if you sign up for the newsletter, you can get weekly updates on new themes and designs available. You can add photos, videos, words, and music. The options to customize are endless. Smilebox is available for PC or Mac as an application that is easily downloaded to your computer. There are a few questions when downloaded, like if you want to use Smilebox as your homepage and download their toolbar, but these are optional tasks. You can also get Smilebox for your iPhone.
