I had to take a few days off and rest due to a cold the end of last week, but now I would like to share more quick and delicious products from Schwan’s.
Toastwich Bacon, Egg, and Cheese #832
Are you searching for a quick and easy breakfast? Schwan’s has the Toastwich Bacon, Egg, and Cheese to please the entire family. This item is great for eating on the go.
The Toastwich encloses bacon, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese in a crisp pastry. To prepare, simply remove from the packaging and then the Toastwich can be microwaved on high for 15-20 seconds. After that, the Toastwich would be placed in the toaster or strictly bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes. We used the first method.
With the toaster, the instructions stated to use the dark or high setting. Maybe I have a toaster that heats really well, but it took a lower setting for me or the outside would burn. I would suggest to watch the Toastwich when in your toaster until you are familiar with the cooking time needed with your unit. You may need less than instructed.
The Toastwich Bacon, Egg, and Cheese comes as a box of 8 for $9.36, $1.17 per serving. This product is featured on p. 37 of Schwan’s Shopping Guide Sept.-Oct. 2013. The Toastwich has a delicious flaky crust with a wonderful medley of flavors tucked inside.
Beef Pot Pies #729
There is something about a pot pie that makes me think hearty, warm, and comforting. Schwan’s Beef Pot Pies are made with tender pieces of sirloin that mingle with carrots, onions, and peas in a beef gravy. The pastry shell that surrounds them is flaky and tender.
To prepare Schwan’s Beef Pot Pies, place in either the microwave or oven. To prepare in the oven, you would leave the pot pie in the paper tray and place crimped aluminum foil around the edge. The pies would be placed on a baking sheet and cooked in a 400 degree oven for 43-45 minutes.
We prepared the pot pies in the microwave. The individual boxes they come packaged in were left on and open at one end. The silver liner in the box must be above the pot pie. The pie would then be heated in the microwave for 5-6 minutes on HIGH. With both methods, you should check that the internal temperature has reached 165 degrees Fahrenheit and also wait five minutes to allow the product to cool.
Schwan’s Sirloin Beef Pot Pie comes in a box with 4 -1 oz. pies that are $9.97 or $2.49 per serving. With the microwave method that we used, there was a little seepage from the gravy in some pies, but a minor inconvenience for a hearty and convenient meal. I like how this beef pot pie was flavored. It was not overly salty, which I have experienced with other brands. Schwan’s Sirloin Beef Pot Pie is featured on p. 27 of Schwan’s Shopping Guide Sept.-Oct. 2013.
