With having young children, safety is a priority. I was recently introduced to a product that is to help reduce the risk of children (pedestrians in general), being killed in a traffic crash.
Did you know a pedestrian is killed every two hours or that one is injured every eight minutes in traffic crashes? These are statistics by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Not good news.
Pedestrians, bicyclists, skaters, and others not driving a vehicle are at risk of being hurt simply because of lack of visibility in traffic. Approximately 90% of pedestrian fatalities occur on a clear day rather than during bad weather. There are probably not many out during a blizzard and other forms of bad weather. Two-thirds of ped. fatalities occur at night.
Puerto Rico tops the chart with beating out any other state for pedestrian fatalities. Florida and Delaware are next with the largest number of pedestrian fatalities, Wyoming with the fewest.
Safees has created a hard prism traffic safety reflector to help reduce traffic accidents and to make us and our children safer on US roads. With attaching the reflector to you or your child, you will increase your visibility to oncoming traffic by anywhere between 300-1,000% (variables of distance, darkness, and weather).
Safees are hard prism reflectors and are made of polystyrene. There are tiny prisms inside the reflector that give off a reflection effect when lights hit the prisms. This makes Safees visible from long distances, even in the dark.
The owl and snowflake I received were almost 2″x3″ in size. You can pin Safees to your clothes ideally at knee or thigh height to reflect the oncoming vehicle’s headlights or swing freely while facing traffic to reflect by the oncoming cars’ headlights. If using on a stroller, place Safees on the hood. Safees are great for cyclists, ideally having one on the back and one on the side that is towards traffic. Safees can also be attached to your dog or horse to increase their safety and even to your mailbox, fence, or door to alert traffic that something is up ahead.
Saffees are made in Finland. They are CE and Lloyds certified and adhere to all related ISO standards. With the production of Safees, no waste is produced. Safees are 100% recyclable.
My oldest daughter decided to use her Safees on her backpack for when kindergarten starts soon. The owl travels with us on our stroller walks.

Safees was founded by Johanna Denize who is originally from Sweden and who grew up always wearing a reflector. When Johanna had her first child in 2010 she immediately noticed that strollers are at great risk for being hit since cars simply do not seem to see them.
Johanna desperately tried to find quality reflectors (i.e. hard prism reflectors) to attach to her son’s stroller and herself. Not finding any reflectors that live up to the high quality found in Scandinavian hard prism reflectors, Safees was born.
Johanna is on a mission to increase traffic Safety for children in the US and reduce traffic accidents and fatalities. ‘Something as simple as wearing a reflector will de facto reduce your risk of being hit by a car and potentially being injured for life or even killed. So why not take this easy, inexpensive precaution?” says Johanna.“ Our whole family wears them, we have Safees on our clothes, our bikes, our strollers and even on our pets.”

Disclosure: I received Safees in the owl and snowflake for this review. No other compensation was received. The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.
