In honor of Rio 2 being released in digital HD on July 1st, my children each got to take a Rio 2 Road Trip Party Pack with while on our recent camping trip last past weekend. We traveled a few hours northwest to visit Maplewood State Park for the first time.
The Rio 2 Road Trip Party Pack included:
- Beach bag
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Kleenex
- Digital HD Copy of Rio 2
- Colored pencils
In fear of not having enough battery life with my computer, we watched Rio 2 before heading out on our excursion last week and then again yesterday between rain showers. My children loved the movie as well as the first Rio. It’s nice to see so many of the primary characters being brought back with the addition of a few great new voices, like Bruno Mars and Kristin Chenowith.
Since our camping reservations were decided upon with not much notice, we ended up taking our tent and reserving a lot with no electricity. On the way up to the state park, the kids colored and tried to find items from the Rio 2 Road Map, which was like a road trip bingo.
The kids were on an excitement high from being somewhere new and like the last two late nights from watching fireworks, did not fall asleep until after 10. Then around 11 p.m., Jeff and I heard thunder and lightning lit up the night sky.
The kids were sound asleep through the roughly five hours of thunder, lightning, winds, and light rain. My husband and I were already short on sleep and kept waking during the storm, worrying that we would get wet and have to move the kids to the pick-up. Our three little ones slept soundly through it all while my husband and I had only a few hours of shut-eye.
The next day, we brought my oldest to camp, which was her first time. All three of the kids enjoyed the travel sized toothpaste and portable toothbrushes. It was nice to send Layne off to camp with her portable set.
The kids seemed to really enjoy the trip and we hope to do more maybe even yet this summer. In Rio 2, Blu ventures on a journey with his family to the Amazon and brings his own survival kit. What are your best road trip survival tips?
