Review: ivivva athletica: Shake It Up Dance Line

February 24, 2012 by Karen

Share
My daughters had a blast participating in the review of clothing from the Shake It Up Dance Line by ivivva athletica, lululemon athletica’s dance apparel brand for girls .  This new line of active wear is designed for young girls.  From legwarmers and shorts to jackets and headbands, the collection offers an assortment of athletic apparel and accessories made from technical fabrics in exciting styles and colors.  It is inspired by the Disney Channel series, Shake It Up.  Shake It Up features the adventures of Cece Jones and Rocky Blue.
ivivva athletica was created based on extensive feedback from lululemon guests who wanted dance specific products for a younger age group using similar signature fabrics, technical design features and exciting colors for which lululemon is known. ivivva products are designed for athletic pursuits such as dance and gymnastics, as well as for all-day versatility.
The Shake It Up line is currently available online at http://www.ivivva.com.  New Shake it Up inspired dance wear will also be created by ivivva for Spring 2012, Summer 2012, Fall 2012, and Winter 2012.
Review:
My daughter, Layne, who is 5, had the opportunity to try out the Rhythmic Crop II pants in black/i left my heart (ILMP) and the Tumblin’ Tank II in (ILMP).
The Tumblin Tank II feels like it is made of cotton and is very stretchy due to the luon® fabric in it.  My daughter noted how great it felt to move in the fabric.

It has comfy racer back straps that are great at staying in place.
The Rhythmic Crop II pants have an interesting feature.  See the lines on the sides?  They come with strategically placed bar tacks so you can easily hem them yourself as your child grows to give more use out of the pants and create crops or shorts down the road.

I haven’t had to use the bar tacks yet, but there is no hem on the bottom and I do not note any fraying of the material.  The pants are also reversible.  It is a solid black on the other side.

The Rhythmic Crop II pants are equipped with a hidden waistband pocket.  It is suggested for cash or keys.

In the hidden waistband pocket, you are also able to write a little information.  “Misplaced by” and “cell”.

Jayden, my 3-year-old, is a busy bee.  I don’t know if you can tell from the background, but this is her running around in the house.  She is sporting the KeepUrCool Racer II and Twirl It Up Skirt.  These two pieces are made of luon® fabric so they are breathable and have a 4-way stretch.

The KeepUrCool Racer II top is preshrunk so no surprises after it is washed.  The Twirl It Up Skirt allows free flowing movement.  Under this cute skirt is a built-in shorts liner.

The Twirl It Up Skirt also features a hidden waistband pocket.  My daughter thought she would demonstrate with placing a toy in the pocket.  There is also the built in label for “misplaced by” and “cell”.
I think this line is for young girls who are in tumbling, dance, or are just on the go.   These clothes will be great when we put up our trampoline again in a few months or just when enjoying other activities outside.  As you can see from the photos, my youngest had fun just running around the house with them on a February day with 30 degrees and snow present outside.
The ivivva athletica line starts off at 35 lb. and goes up to 110 lb.  The sizing guide is located here.
