Review: Chase Away the Sun

April 27, 2012 by Karen

Recently, I had the opportunity to review Chase Away the Sun, a sun visor for children in the rear seat.  This visor mounts between the front two seats and blocks the sun that would normally bother the child during morning and evening drives.
Chase Away the Sun does not obstruct the driver’s view from the rear view mirror.  The visor can be quickly pulled down to release the velcro if needed in an emergency.
The visor is made of cotton so it is soft and machine washable with like colors.  The bands are made of elastic and velcro.  They are to be hand washed.  Lay all pieces flat to dry.
Review:  We have a Chrysler Town and Country and tried out Chase Away the Sun in large (25″-30″).  To view the size chart, go here.  There are currently six patterned prints available to purchase.  This review is with the cute Dinosaurs print.

The following are included:  one patterned visor and two elastic bands with velcro.  The bands go around the headrests (can be placed vertically if your vehicle has video screens in the headrests), just slip over and position.
Here is what the children see from the second or third row of the van.  My oldest two children loved to identify the differences among the dinosaurs on the visor.
Here is the other side.  This image is from the front passenger seat, looking back.

Chase Away the Sun is attractive and has been entertaining for my children with the colorful print.  I was hoping for more sunny weather lately, but it has been often overcast and in the 50’s here in MN.  I think Chase Away the Sun may be quite beneficial also in MN during late December/January when the sun is quite bright and there is a lot of reflection on the snow.  It can be blinding to me as the driver and I would guess some of my little passengers.
Chase Away the Sun seems durable and very easy to store.  It can be folded up tightly and will even fit in most glove compartments.  I like that Chase Away the Sun is machine washable and installation is a breeze.  I think the sun visor works best when the front seats are at a similar incline and position forward, but it does continue to be effective when the seats vary.
Chase Away the Sun currently retails for $14.95 for all three sizes (S, M and L) plus shipping.
