I recently watched Redeeming Love which comes out in theaters tomorrow. It is based on the bestselling novel by Francine Rivers, Redeeming Love.
In this film, a little girl called Angel lives contently with her mother. Her father comes to visit one day and from their conversation, he appears to be married and Angel’s mother has been his mistress. Angel’s mother tries to raise her little girl on her own after the father drops support. She becomes ill and dies when Angel is quite young. With no other family to take her in after her mother’s passing, is sold into a life of slavery and is made to work as a prostitute. This story takes place during the time of the California Gold Rush in the 1850s.
A young man named Michael Hosea has been successful at farming and feels that the only thing missing in his life is someone to share it with. He prays to God about this and shortly after, sees Angel as the answer to his prayer.
Angel has faced betrayal many times over during her life and has a hard time trusting anyone. Michael coming around with his intentions to marry her is not well-received by her wounded heart.
This is a powerful story of unbreakable love and determination. At times, I found it is almost hard to watch with all that Angel is required to do while a prostitute and even some of the events that take place later on in the film. Then there is this sweet young man named Michael that comes into the picture and with what would normally break a relationship, he forgives and goes back to try and break down the walls around Angel’s heart. Redeeming Love is rated PG-13 and so I would say definitely not appropriate for kids due to the nudity and violence. To buy tickets, please visit https://tickets.redeeminglovemovie.com/.
