A few weeks ago my son managed to drop my oldest daughter’s loom off the kitchen counter and some of the end pegs broke off. The sellers of the Rainbow Braid Rubber Band Refill Pack came to the rescue and sent us out a new loom. The Rainbow Loom® is labeled for children 8 and above. My daughter is seven and does well with it. It does contain small parts to keep away from little ones as a choking hazard.
The Rainbow Loom® is a pretty complete starter kit. The black plastic base can be used for storage. If you have a rubber band loomer in your household, I strongly recommend investing in a storage compartment with a cover. The rubber bands seem to travel everywhere in the house, at least in mine. This kit also contain the Rainbow Loom®, hook, instruction manual, rubber bands, c-clips, and also a mini Rainbow Loom®.
The Rainbow Loom® hook is used to loop and link the rubber bands. The left end of the hook has a base opener. It allows to you move the rows from “triangle” to “square” and to help add more than one loom together.
I had purchased an off brand loom set for my daughter to start with (had the loom that broke) and it had a small pink hook. The hook in this kit is large. It feels much sturdier by design. The Mini Rainbow Loom® is the blue piece that can be stored on the hook itself and is used to create simple bracelets.
The Rainbow Loom® has labeled arrow so you know which side of the loom to start on and which direction to travel when looping the bands.
It also comes with a mix (colors may vary) of over 600 latex free rubber bands to make up to 24 bracelets. C-clips to join both ends of the bracelets are also included. The loom can be used to make a single pattern and wide pattern bracelets. If multiple looms are joined, wider and longer bracelets can be created.
The instruction manual shows you how to make a “single” pattern bracelet. The backside of the manual helps you learn how to use Mini Rainbow Loom® and read some basic loom patterns.
Disclosure: I received the Rainbow Loom® in exchange of an honest review. No other compensation was received for this post.
