Author Aldo Fynn has released the second title in the Prince Iggy book series, Prince Iggy and the Tower of Decisions. Since I was not familiar with the series, I also received Prince Iggy and the Kingdom of Naysayer to get up to speed on Iggy. This series is recommended for children ages 8-12. The illustrator is Richie Vicencio and publisher is Boa Press, LLC. Prince Iggy and the Tower of Decisions is 161 pages.
I recruited my oldest who is seven, but is reading at the 4th grade level. She did not get very far into the first book before telling me that the characters did some bad things. She was turned off by reading that Iggy bit the ear of his bully, Teddy, while at Naysayer Academy. The duel was to keep a ring in his possession so maybe this series will be more attractive for my daughter at a later time.
Prince Iggy and the Tower of Decisions starts off pretty much where the first installment leaves off. Iggy and his friends start off for the Rose Kingdom. They know that Queen Victoria, Iggy’s aunt who killed his parents, will not be happy to see his return. Their ship, Lucky Rose 2, starts off sailing in the ocean, but later blasts off in outer space. They check out the Rose Star in the sky after seeing it is sending a distress signal. Talk about an imaginative story from the get-go! The Rose Star flashing on and off concerns people of the Rose Kingdom, except Queen Victoria, who after a bout of plastic surgery, discovers her nose has fallen of her face from the last procedure.
While on his adventure, Iggy still speaks of not feeling good at anything and his self-confidence is pretty much null. Prince Iggy and his pals help the Rose Star and battle the queen who will not peacefully hand over the Rose Kingdom. Iggy and the queen later go through a series of challenges to see who can ring the bell first in the Tower of Decisions and come out the ruler.
Prince Iggy and the Tower of Decisions is an elaborate magical tale that children will enjoy. With seeing how my daughter reacted to reading part of the first book, I would recommend this book for slightly older children, maybe 10-13. This title sets the series up perfectly for a third story.
Aldo Fynn
Aldo Fynn enjoys writing wacky, fantastical stories. Prince Iggy and the Kingdom of Naysayer is his debut novel. It’s the first book in theAdventures of Prince Iggy Series. He’s also written two wacky, laugh-out-loud picture books. He lives under his desk and promises he won’t come out until Book 3 in the series is complete. Which is a shame because his desk is based in Los Angeles, where it’s sunny and 70 degrees most of the year.
