I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Pull-Ups. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
This is my third and final post as a Pull-Ups® First Flush Ambassador and to share my son’s potty training journey. Please visit part 1 and part 2.
Well, we’ve been consistently working with potty training our son over the last few months. This may seem silly, but since he was so into Disney’s Cars and with receiving the Pull-Ups® training pants featured in the last post, there has been a huge improvement on his repeated success. He would get dressed in the morning and say, “I want to wear McQueen.”
We rarely have a day time accident and my son is even alerting his teachers when we are separated for parent group if he needs assistance to go to the bathroom. I’m so proud of him! 🙂 Night time dryness goes in spells yet, but I am sure we will get it with a bit more time. I can tell my son is proud of his personal success too.
To work on our night-time success rate, we are making sure that our little guy tries to go potty before right before bed time and keep drinking liquids in the evening to a minimum after supper. Those two things seem to up our odds for a dry training pant the next morning. My son has pointed out on a few mornings that he has even woken himself up in the middle of the night and gone to the potty. What an accomplishment for the little guy!
My son started later than my girls by almost a year and a half, but I know each kid is different with when they are ready to go. We did try to see if our son was ready around the time our daughters started training and it was not pretty.
While we have been working on potty training the last few months, we have used the Pull-Ups® Facebook page to learn and support one another as parents on the same journey. The Big Kid Academy is also available on the Pull-Ups website; connections via the Twitter page are also available.
So far my son has been doing really well with the licensed training pants by Pull-Ups® and receiving high fives when he has gone potty. That may not always be the desired reward so I have the Pull-Ups® Reward Wheel as a back-up in my potty training journey arsenal. You can personalize the wheel or use the general settings and spin for a fun and rewarding activity to do with your child as a potty training reward.
Here’s some exciting news. Pull-Ups recently announced their new partnership with The First Years, a maker of potty training systems and seats. The First Years offers a range of different potty training systems and seats, even some decorated with Disney characters to help make potty training as fun as possible! When you purchase a specialty potty system from The First years, you will also receive a free sample pack of Pull-Ups Training Pants to help you on your potty training journey.
We started our children with a potty training system and then graduated to seats when they felt comfortable using a stool to get up and sit on top of a toilet. We purchased seats themed with characters our children sought out and enjoyed to make them feel more desirable.
Potty training is a journey that I don’t think many parents really look forward to, but knows there are huge rewards in the end for them and their child. Pull-Ups® has some great resources to help you and your child on this journey and accomplish this significant milestone.
