Planning an All-American Road Trip? Here is How You Can Do it on a Budget

The United States is a great place to travel and explore in. If you are a US citizen or just want to plan a trip over here, there is a lot to see and do. The size of the country is vast, and the places you can visit can differ greatly.  The geography of the country is different all over, as well as the cities and national parks. The food changes from region to region, as well as things like music and shopping.  All the states have different things to offer for different people. So one of the best ways to see it is to plan a road trip to travel around. You might think that it costs a lot to plan a road trip, but it doesn’t have to at all!

Some places don’t need a long visit. You could spend a day in one place and then head over to somewhere else the next day. If you did this for a week, you would get a lot of places ticked off your list.  It is a good idea to plan a route in advance, though. Get off some of the main roads and enjoy some scenery that you otherwise wouldn’t see. A website like https://roadtrippers.com/ can give you advice on route planning, and you can map it all out on there. Try to decide what the maximum amount of time is that you will travel before you need a stop. Then look for places to stay in between those areas. Getting a motel is one of the cheapest ways to travel.

If you are coming from abroad, one of the best ways to travel might be by bus or train. You have to be over 25 to rent a car in the US. Plus, car insurance for a non-US resident can cost quite a bit more than for someone that lives over here. So a train or bus could be the best way to go. It could end up being quite a bit cheaper too. To get an idea of what it might cost, have a look at somewhere like http://shofur.com/booking/bus-tickets/. The great thing about traveling by public transport is that you aren’t the one doing the driving. So if you decide to choose a long trip, you can rest on the journey. It is great to leave one place and then wake up in another. You can maximize the time in the cities or attractions, rather than having to focus on getting more sleep.

Fast food is cheap over here so that shouldn’t be too much of a problem with your trip. Nothing beats cooking for yourself, though. This might cost more to get a hotel room with a kitchen suite. So you could consider camping instead. What are your tips for planning an all-American road trip?
