Peggy and Harry thoroughly enjoyed this recent product review. Dog treats! I was sent PetSafe’s Indigo Smokehouse Strips in Chicken and Spring Naturals Grain Free Chicken and Lamb Treats for the pups to sample and enjoy.
PetSafe Indigo Smokehouse Strips a free of by-products and are made in the U.S.A. They do not contain artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives nor corn, wheat, or soy. It’s interesting to read that these treats contain green tea extract and rosemary extract. It does not say much more on the website about these two ingredients, but I believe they are added for additional antioxidants in the product. I won’t elaborate more, but they are believed to have other health benefits too. Rosemary extract is also used as a natural preservative.
This product is vacuum-sealed so it is important to re-seal and refrigerate after opening or use entirely up within three days if they last that long!
Offering Indigo Smokehouse Strips was certainly one way to attain Peggy’s undivided attention. Harry’s too. The smokehouse strips were moist and are made with 100% U.S.A. grown chicken. There is also a bacon variety that has 100% U.S.A. grown pork.
PetSafe Indigo Smokehouse Strips start off in a 1 oz. bag of either the chicken or bacon with a suggested retail price of $2.99. They are also packaged in 6 oz., 12 oz., and 21 oz. bags. PetSafe carries a variety of products, from treats to training products for your pet.
Spring Naturals Grain Free Treats are also made in the U.S.A. They are manufactured by Performance Pet Products, LLC. This product is made with real meat, whole vegetables, and whole fruits. The treats do not contain beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, or fish meal. They are also free of corn, wheat, soy, potato starch, rice, or artificial preservatives, colors or flavors. 
There are a variety of flavors. Spring Naturals Grain Free Treats are available in Beef, Chicken and Lamb, Turkey, and Turkey and Salmon. The Chicken and Lamb that I was sent have the meats listed as the first two ingredients followed by a bit of salt, natural flavor, molasses, chickpeas, spinach, blueberries, cranberries, flaxseed, rosemary extract, apricots, dandelion greens, calcium propionate and zinc propionate (minerals/food preservative).
This variety of dog treat is more crunchy and dry. Since Harry and Peggy are small dogs, I would often break the pieces in two or three for them, which was easy to do with just my hands.
They are low in moisture so this may seem like common sense to any pet owner, but please provide your pet with plenty of fresh water.
Harry is normally a soft mouthed treat taker, but this treat tested his ability to wait. He really enjoyed them.
