My husband and I recently view The Perfect Summer on DVD. Jake, a 17-year-old boy, was growing up in Chicago with his mother and father. His father got ill and passed away. His mother tried to continue living there, but hit some financial pitfalls and lose their house. She (Alyssa) and her son move in with her estranged father who lives in a small, but busy beach town.
Jake has no prior knowledge of surfing, much less any sport. He would like to spend his time surfing the internet instead, which is sparse at this new location. With these factors in play, Jake finds it hard to fit in. He befriends a surfer named Kayla and beach shop owner, Cody, but also faces being bullied by a local surfer. In an attempt to fit in, Jake asks his grandfather, a washed up surfing legend, to teach him how to surf.
Watch how these characters develop new beginnings and learn how to forgive. This is a family movie, great for teenagers and their parents. The Perfect Summer has earned the Dove Family Approved Seal. This movie features Eric Roberts, Sydney Penny, Louis Mandylor, Adam Horner, Katie Garfield and Jason Castro.
