PBS KIDS’ Most Popular Facebook Page Celebrates a Milestone as Arthur Makes His
One-Millionth Friend
October 30th, 2012–ARTHUR, television’s longest-running children’s animated series, recently launched its 16th season. On the heels of the October 15th premiere, ARTHUR celebrated his one-millionth Facebook fan, a milestone for both the popular television program and for PBS KIDS.
ARTHUR’s Facebook page is home to a loyal community of fans from across globe. Visitors to the page receive the latest news from Elwood City, including the recent sneak peak at Arthur’s newest friend and neighbor, Ladonna Compson. In addition, fans get access to exclusive video and multimedia content, as well as trivia, sneak previews, and special offers.
“Even though ARTHUR premiered 16 years ago, reaching this Facebook milestone proves that the show is just as relevant today as it was in 1996,” noted Executive Producer Carol Greenwald. “It’s clear from the many contributions we receive on our Facebook page-from fan artwork and videos, to personal stories-that ARTHUR remains important to kids and adults of all ages. Here’s to one million more!”
“Arthur has always been my friend, and I knew he had others. But over a million friends is pretty amazing!” remarked Arthur creator Marc Brown.
