For a long time, I have used a manual toothbrush. I did try a battery operated toothbrush years ago, but I was disappointed with its longevity and performance. With a manual brush, I haven’t always been happy with the length of time that my mouth feels clean afterward. I brush twice a day and floss once a day, religiously.
I was enthusiastic with the opportunity try the Oral-B Professional Precision 1000 and see how well it worked. The Precision 1000 is a rechargeable toothbrush. This product comes with a handle, plug in charger, brush head, and manual.
The Precision 1000 brush pulsates and breaks up plaque. It also oscillates and rotates to sweep plaque away. The Precision 1000 is noted to remove up to 5x more plaque along the gum line versus a manual toothbrush.
This brush is equipped with some unique features. It signals you every 30 seconds with what I would consider a series of vibrations to inform you when you should switch to each of the four quadrants of your teeth (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) to give you the recommended total of two minutes of brushing time. It also stops pulsating when you brush too hard. The head of the brush is round to surround the tooth and do a better job cleaning hard to reach places. It also has indicator bristles that fade half-way when it is time to replace the brush head.
I thought I had been doing a decent job brushing my teeth, but with the timed switches noted with this brush, I obviously have not been giving my teeth the full two minutes of cleaning they deserve. I can’t believe how much longer my teeth feel squeaky clean compared with the manual I had been using. It feels like I just got done with a cleaning at the dentist’s office. I LOVE IT!
I haven’t had the Oral-B brush warn me yet that I am brushing too hard. I thought I maybe had been with my manual. It seems like I just need to effortlessly glide along my teeth to clean with the 1000.
Initially, you do want to place the toothbrush on the charger. A full charge is to last seven days, figuring use of twice a day at two minutes per brushing. I am now past a week and the brush seems to still be running strong. There is a charge indicator light and low charge indicator light on the front of the handle.
The brush head and handle are easy to maneuver and the unit does not feel heavy or bulky. There are quite a few styles of Oral-B heads that work with this brush that can be noted here.
The Oral-B Precision 1000 comes with a two year limited warranty and guarantees satisfaction with a 60 day money back guarantee. This product is not recommended for children under age three. Consult your dental professional prior to use if undergoing treatment for any oral care condition.
Looking online, the price of the Oral-B Precision 1000 varies quite a bit. There is currently a mail-in-rebate offered by Oral-B for $20 back on select power toothbrushes purchased between July 1 through September 30, 2012. Please visit OralB.com.
Walmart currently has the Oral-B Precision 1000 on rollback for $37 with $2.97 to ship. With $20 back on the mail-in-rebate, the price would be about $20 after rebate. I love this brush and hope to buy one for each of my family members who are old enough to use the Oral-B Precision 1000.
