Nutcracker and the Four Realms

I recently sat down to review Disney’s “Nutcracker and the Four Realms that was released out on DVD and Blu-ray yesterday. This title is also available on digital. Disney’s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is inspired by E.T.A. Hoffman’s classic tale and the beloved ballet “The Nutcracker”, but adds a totally new twist on the known tale.

On Christmas Eve, 14-year-old Clara (Mackenzie Foy) and her siblings receive gifts from their mother who has passed. Clara receives a silver egg that is locked and needs a key. Clara recruits the help of her godfather, Drosselmeyer (Morgan Freeman), to try and find the missing key. While at her godfather’s, Clara is to find a Christmas gift that leads her onto an unexpected adventure to a mystical parallel world with the Four Realms.

Bonus features include a discussion with American Ballet Theatre’s Misty Copeland about her role as the enchanting Ballerina Princess, her personal history with “The “Nutcracker” ballet, and her inspirational and historic rise within the world of dance. Extras take viewers on the set of “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” to meet both new and reimagined characters, and discover how the Land of Sweets, Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and mysterious Fourth Realm were created to such dazzling effect. Deleted scenes provide a look at magical moments that didn’t make the final version of the movie.
