If you and your family are looking for an alternative to peanut butter or a cream cheese spread, you may want to try Nocciolata, (pronounced no-cho-lata), a chocolate-hazelnut spread.
Nocciolata is made with organic ingredients and is completely free of GMO’s, preservatives, colors, additives, and artificial sweeteners. It is certified USDA organic. This product is made by the Rigoni family of Altopiano di Asiago in Northern Italy.
Rigoni di Asiago’s Nocciolata is made with hazelnuts, cocoa, cocoa butter, natural vanilla extract, raw cane sugar, and skimmed milk. It also contains cold-pressed sunflower oil versus palm oil, like some other brands. Nocciolata is free of hydrogenated fats and contains about 3 grams less of sugar per serving than the major competitor.
When Nocciolata is made, each batch takes 36 hours of preparation to develop its rich and complex flavor and easy-to-spread texture. Nocciolata is perfect for snacking, a wonderful addition to breakfast spreads, an alternative to other nut butters, and is a wonderful accompaniment for breads, croissants, crepes, and fruit.
Nocciolata is gluten-free and has natural fiber from the hazelnuts and cocoa. Rigoni di Asiago Nocciolata can be found in stores nationwide and in 9.52 oz. glass jars.
My family and I thought Nocciolata has more of a rich chocolatey flavor and less strength in flavor of the hazelnuts versus Nutella. It wasn’t as thick and so it was very easy to spread on toast too.
