We planted hulless pumpkins this past year to enjoy roasted seeds and I froze some of the “meat” by partially baking and then scooping it into freezer bags. I took a bag out recently to thaw and use. It was stringy so I thought I would try pulsing it in the Ninja® Ultima™. Below are the results from just a few revolutions around in the blender.
The single serve cups are ideal for making individual portions of smoothies or other drinks. They can also be used for chopping or to create salad dressing. The single serve cups only run at one speed when attached to the base, but you can pulse or use “start” for continuous revolutions.
The power button is illuminated when a drinking cup or the pitcher is fastened onto the base. The lid also has to be locked onto the pitcher. If power is supplied and the pitcher or drinking cup is not fastened on correctly or the handle is not locked on the pitcher, the power button will flash red instead of being a solid illumination of red and blades will not run.
When using the Ninja®, the locking handle is built for safety. The arrows have to be lined up on the lid with the top of the pitcher and the handle must be locked (done by pressing down and hearing a “click”) before the blade will move.
Here is the bottom blade. It is fixed to the pitcher. The bottom blade is great for soft ingredients.
The optional top blades help power through tough ingredients like solid fruits and vegetables, and ice. You want to add ingredients after inserting the blade.
The Ninja® Ultima™ Dual Stage Blender BL830 gives you countless options in the kitchen. You can make juices, smoothies, crush ice, blend frozen treats, purée, emulsify salad dressing and sauces, chop, mix, grind, make nut butters (sunflower, peanut, and almond), and even mill some of your own flour (rice, quinoa, and garbanzo beans). I ♥ having this device in my kitchen and can’t wait to explore more of its many uses! This unit comes with a two-year limited warranty.
All parts are dishwasher safe, but the base. I do like to handwash the pitcher because the corners are open on the bottom and food particles from my dishwasher somehow manage to stick in these openings. Otherwise, no complaints!

Seeded Snack Bars
PREP TIME: 5 minutes
SERVES: 16
If you’re looking for an alternative to nuts, look no further than seeds. Unlike nuts, seeds aren’t common allergens, so they are better tolerated by people with food sensitivities. Flax and hemp seeds are rich in hard-to-get nutrients, such as omega-3 essential fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory benefits. Plus, these bars are gluten-free!
3/4 cup toasted rolled oats
9 dates
½ cup pumpkin seeds
½ cup sunflower seeds
¼ cup dried cherries
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon flax seeds
3 tablespoons coconut flakes
¼ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons sunflower butter
1 tablespoon maple syrup
2 tablespoons water
½ teaspoon sea salt
1. Combine all ingredients into the Ninja Ultima Pitcher.
2. Pulse until well combined, scraping down Pitcher as necessary.
3. Line an 8×8-inch pan with plastic wrap and spread the mixture evenly, pressing down.
4. Chill for at least one hour, remove from pan and cut into 16 portions.
