Another fun item that my kids got to share with birthday party friends was the Monster High CD+G Karaoke Machine with Screen (Item 68148-TRU). This product is made by Sakar International and is recommended for children 7-12 years of age. It includes the karaoke machine, microphone, aux cable, AC power adapter, and owner’s manual.
It has a 5.5″ black and white monitor for CD+G titles.
Source Button: Aux In, CD, or CD+G
AVC (automatic voice control): allows you to adjust the volume of the karaoke machine to compensate for varying levels of volume from the microphone
ECHO: enhances your voice for a concert hall effect
Balance: controls the balance between the prerecorded singer’s voice and the music
The microphone mounts nicely to clips built on the side for it.
There is a paper disc in the CD compartment that needs to be removed before use. Then simply place your CD or CD+G in for playing.
If you have and iPhone or iPod, there is a holder built on the left side of the unit.
Close-up of jacks for Mic 2 and headphones to be plugged in if you wish.
The rear of the unit has knobs to adjust brightness, contrast, and vertical of the monitor. There is output for composite video and RCA audio.
If you use CD+G files, the words will show up in white on the screen. My camera left this rolling line, but it is not evident when using the device. The words will highlight as they are to be sung.
Here are a few of the girls rockin’ out with the music from the party. My oldest daughter has had a lot of fun with the karaoke machine and still uses it quite a bit today. She doesn’t want to share it with her younger brother and sister much.
With my 7-year-old, it took a while to find music that wasn’t explicit or too babyish. She had the most enjoyment with Tween Hits Party Thyme Karaoke. They are CD+G files and have two versions of the song – one with the artist and another without.
The Sakar Monster High Karaoke Machine with Screen Review comes with a one year conditional warranty. It looks to be priced at $114.95 on Amazon.com. The karaoke machine does not come with music so just consider the additional investment if needed.
This unit is light, comes with lots of features, and is easy to use. The sound quality is pretty good too. It’s a great outlet for a child to express their creativity or to enjoy some family time fun with a duet.
Disclosure: I received product in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was received for this review.

Hi,I would like to know if you need to plug the karaoke to the tv to get the sound, or the machine has integrated speakers. thank you
Karen says
Hello. There are speakers on the unit and functions on its own.

Just opened product and put a CD in. It doesn’t display lyrics. Am I doing something wrong? Do only special CDs work… What does CD+g actually mean?
Thank You,
Greg
Karen says
CD+G is compact disc plus graphics or in this case, the wording to songs. Regular CDs will not have wording.
