Monkeez Makes a Difference Review

December 12, 2012 by Karen

I was recently introduced to Monkeez Makes a Difference, a philanthropic and educational program.  Monkeez Makes a Difference was created by Chrysti Carol Propes, a mother of two boys, former teacher, children’s book author, and writer for educational apps.  This program is designed to enable children to think of others and also help make a difference in their communities, school, home, and even in the world.

Monkeez Makes a Difference includes kid-friendly toys and tools.  I was sent two of their cute and cuddly plush characters from the Monkeez Knit Plush line, Keiko ($19.99), the small cat, and Trisha $19.99), the small owl.  These two characters are also available in medium and large sizes, which have different character names.

Genuine Monkeez and Friends knit plush characters may be surface washed and air dried.  They contain plastic pellets that feel to be isolated to the rump that seem to aid in sitting upright and do the characters contain magnets.  Keiko had one magnet at the end of each paw and Trisha had a magnet at the base of each of her wings to hook around an object or “hug” something small.  The colors of fabric used for Genuine Monkeez and Friends appear to be very bright and cheerful.

The Genuine Monkeeze and Friends plush characters each have a special Makes a Difference tag.   There are more than 90 plush designs to select from and each has a unique online game activation code on the tag.  With the assistance of an adult, the child follows the instructions on the tag and can then visit www.MonkeezandFriends.com.

Once the code is entered, they add coins and bananas to their adventure on Monkeez Island.  They can also watch videos about the three charities Monkeez Makes a Difference has partnered with.

The child is then allowed to make a selection of which charity they would like to donate to.  Monkeez Makes a Difference donates 10% of the wholesale cost of a toy on the child’s behalf.  Children can revisit the website as much as they would like to play educational games and also learn more about what they can do to help others.

Monkeeze Makes a Difference donated $45,000 recently based on sales that was given equally to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Samaritan’s Purse, and Best Friends Animal Society.

Monkeez Makes a Difference also features a way to support locally with Do Good Cards.  They are available in 15 different packs.  Each set contains challenges that are simple, but meaningful, like “today at lunch, look around.  Invite a child that is sitting alone to sit with you.”  When a child completes each challenge and shares their experiences with his or her parents, they receive the trading card, which can be redeemed online at www.MonkeezandFriends.com.  10% of the wholesale purchase will be donated to one of the three charities per child’s choice through the website.

Genuine Monkeez and Friends are available through www.MonkeezandFriends.com and independent retailers across the country.  Monkeez and Friends can be found on Facebook and Twitter.

Right now you can get 20% off orders on the website with code HEALTHY.

Monkeez Makes a Difference was developed by Chrysti Carol Propes, director of Monkeez Makes a Difference, and supported by the Propes family, owners of Charleston-based MVP Group International.  MVP Group International, Inc., is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of premium home fragrances, candles, holiday, and gift products.  MVP Group International is the parent company of Midwest-CBK holiday and seasonal gifts and decor, Colonial Candle premium home fragrance products and Everybody’s Ayurveda natural and Ayurvedic products.

Disclosure:  I received to plush characters from the Genuine Monkeez and Friends.  No other compensation was received.  The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.  No other compensation was received.
