Disclosure:  I received the MicroTouch ONE™  in exchange of an honest review through fuelmyblog.com.

I recruited my hubby to help with this review.  MicroTouch ONE™  provides a modern touch to the classic single blade shave.  It is made of solid brass and is chrome plated.

To use ONE, twist the knob at the bottom of the razor’s handle to open the razor blade chamber until the door completely open.

Then carefully remove the protective covering.

Hold the razor blade on its sides and place the razor blade into the blade chamber.

Twist the knob at the bottom and completely close the razor blade chamber and check that the razor blade is secure.  Now the MicroTouch ONE™ is ready to use.

It is recommended that your guy shaves after showering.  The heat from the shower helps soften the beard and relax the skin.  Another option is to take a cloth that has been saturated with hot tap water (not so hot that you can’t stand it being placed on your skin) and placed on the face to soften the bristles.  The cloth should be left on for 1-2 minutes.  IMG_4111

Then apply thick, moisturizing shaving cream, gel, or lotion.  These products can also help soften the hair and provide moisture to help protect the skin.  Shave with the direction that the hair grows.  Areas of the face may vary on the direction of hair growth.

After becoming familiar with the razor, you can re-lather and lightly cut against the direction of hair growth for a smooth shave.  When done, rinse the face with cold water to close the pores and apply your choice of aftershave and then “butterfly” the razor blade chamber to clean the blade and chamber.  Close the chamber and then shake dry.  The razor should be stored in the provided case until the next shave.

My husband’s shared thoughts on the MicroTouch ONE™ :

Pros:

  • Produces less waste with a single blade being discarded vs. multiple blade heads
  • Durable – heads don’t pop off if the razor is dropped vs. disposable razor heads
  • Visually appealing razor and storage case
  • Nice storage area for the blades in the travel case
  • Seem to clean fairly well between shaving strokes
  • Shave seemed to be best with shaving cream/foam and shaving oil vs. shaving gel that does not foam

Cons:

  • The mirror in the case is hard to use.  It would be nice if it opened 160° versus 90° as it does
  • Blades were hit on miss.  He had to go through two blades that he felt were pretty much dull right from the start before he found one that gave him a good shave.
  • Razor felt a little top heavy with the short handle

The MicroTouch ONE™  comes with the razor, 12 blades, a front and back half page of instructions, and a hard-shell travel case for a suggested retail of $19.99 + shipping and handling.  To learn more, please visit ONErazor.com.

no need to shave with the grain with 5 blade razors.. keep the blades dry to avoid rust, and they will last longer.

    i’ll stick with 5 blades.

Literally, the best shave I’ve ever had. MicroTouch ONE really is all that!
