MasterLock Safe Space Review & Giveaway

MasterLock Safe Space

Most of you may be familiar with MasterLock for its padlocks or other security products.  Masterlock has been around since 1921.  One of their newest products is the Safe Space, no. 5900, released earlier this year.  Safe Space is a portable safe, great for use when camping, college life, office, travel, or leisure.  It can help protect cell phones, cameras, cash, credit cards, passports, MP3 players, and other small valuables.  It even features an ear bud port for your speakers when using an MP3 player that has the dual purpose as the cable access port.   The size of Safe Space is 9 1/2″ by 5 1/4″ by 2 1/4″.  It is also lightweight (a little over a pound when empty) and is water-resistant.

The cable can come out of the port at the upper end of the picture.  The cable may be used as a carrying handle that can also be wrapped around a stationary object and locked.  One side of the cable comes out at a horizontal angle and the other end vertically when you would carry it.

You can set the combination as you would desire.  There is a tab inside the case that you need to move with your finger or other object, like screwdriver.  Set your new combination of four digits, close the lid, and scramble the numbers to lock.

Review:
Pros:
  1. Size of Safe Space, compact.
  2. Concept of a portable safe for everyday valuables is great.
  3. Case is quite durable in design.
  4. Ability to set your own combination.
  5. Ease to change combination if needed.
  6. Port/opening to have speakers or charging cord stick out when MP3 player is in Safe Space.

Cons:

  1. Is water resistant, not waterproof (hard to avoid with feature of cable port being open for MP3 ear buds).
  2. Cables to carry SafeSpace lay at a slightly different angle, making it seem a little ackward.
  3. Digits are printed on lock.  It would be nice if they were raised or recessed for longevity.

I think MasterLock Safe Space would be a great gift for someone who likes to travel, a college student, or someone who just needs an alternative to keep valuables safe during a regular trip to the beach.

Masterlock Studies show that 4 out of every 5 students participate in some extracurricular activity outside of their required classload. As fall approaches, family schedules inevitably fill up with after-school practices, work obligations, parent teacher conferences and more. Before heading out, it’s important to take a step back to discuss your family’s security routines and the measures everyone should take to keep their homes and each other safe throughout the year. Master Lock offers several tips and products for keeping active families secure this fall, such as:
–      Talk with your children about a “home alone” routine
–      Utilize a key safe to make sure the appropriate people have access to your home when you can’t   always be there

For more information on MasterLock Safe Space, please check out their website.  List price in the USA is $27.59.  MasterLock Safe Space comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

I would like to use safe space for when my husband goes to marathons to secure his items while he is racing.
