Crime Prevention:
October is Crime Prevention Month and Master Lock is sharing tips to encourage families to prevent and deter crime.  With more than 13 million Americans affected by crime each year, it is essential that people are always aware of what they can do to protect themselves, their things and others.  Master Lock has created a series of simple tips to help families change their safety mindset, be aware of their surroundings and take small precautions to stay safe during Crime Prevention Month and beyond.

Review of MasterLock 4 Compartment Drawer Safe:

Pros:

  • Durable
  • Nice design
  • Internal mounting feature and hardware included

Cons:

  • It would be nice if it was wide enough to accommodate another coin compartment for use of bills/change
  • The area below the removable tray is for small documents only (great for checks or larger bills)
I think this safe would be best contained in a tight area, like a small drawer (as the name implies, “drawer safe”).  If someone had the ability to take it out and handle it, a screwdriver could pop the corners open.  For overall security design, it would be nice if this drawer safe had a solid weld to the corners as opposed to the corner spot weld.  It has a piano hinge  and it would be nice had end caps for more security so someone can’t go in and tap a nail or other device on the end and pop the pin out.

I wasn’t able to pick this up on corners with how I took the photo, but I circled two of the three spot welds below the hinge
Overall, if mounted in a drawer and used to keep small items, this safe is a good value for the money.  I could see it being nice to contain bills and change for a garage sale, for vendors working at an event, or a key box.  With little kids in my household, I could see this as a way to possibly lock up small items that I do not want my children to get into.  The finish appears very durable and sleek.

I received a MasterLock Drawer Safe for this review. No monetary compensation was received for this post.  The thoughts and feelings expressed are my own.

And now the opportunity to win a MasterLock Drawer Safe!
