Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Now Out to Rent and Own

Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil became available to rent on Movies Anywhere at the end of last year and just came out on 4K Ultra HD, DVD, digital code and Blu-ray three days ago.

This film was number one opening weekend and received an A CinemaScore and a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a sequel to 2014’s Maleficent.

Angelina Jolie is back as Maleficent as well as Elle Fanning playing her goddaughter, Aurora. There are new bonus features that take you behind the scene with the cast, extended scenes that reveal how Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) tricks Aurora into upping her wedding plans, outtakes, and also an extra for digital consumers in which fantasy-film veteran Warwick Davis divulges the backstory for his character, Lickspittle.

Featurettes include interviews with Jolie, who discusses Maleficent’s origins and the cast who portray the Fey, and Fanning, who gushes over Aurora’s fairytale wedding. Filmmakers showcase the visual effects behind the film’s stunning landscapes and the seemingly effortless flight of the Fey. Additional extras include “You Can’t Stop The Girl,” a music video performed by Bebe Rexha, and hilarious outtakes, ranging from uncooperative cats to uncontrollable giggles on set.

I didn’t get to see Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in theatres so I was happy to see a copy arrive to review. This film is directed by Joachim Rønning, and continues the story of Disney’s most iconic villain.

Man and the creatures of the Moors are still having issues of getting along. Prince Phillip travels to the Moors to propose to Aurora. With this tentative future union, the parents of the young couple need to meet. Aurora is invited to the Kingdom of Ulstead. She has asked Maleficent to join her and Diaval also comes with in the meeting of the parents, which doesn’t go so well.

Will there be the union of Aurora and Prince Phillip that will also unite the Moors and the Kingdom of Ulstead? You will have to watch to find out! I think this film brings about some twists and turns in the plot that I didn’t expect. The scenery for the lands of the mystical Moors and the kingdom are breathtaking. It’s another great family film.

Malificent: Mistress of Evil has a run time of 118 minutes and is rated PG.
