I remember being a kid and how I loved to receive mail. My daughters already do this and are only three and five. They can’t wait to go up our 1/4 mile long driveway on a nice day and be the first to open the mailbox.
I’d like to share my review of a subscription activity kit for children called Little Passports today. The image at the left is the First Month’s Explorer’s Kit. Little Passports was created by two San Francisco moms who wanted to create a fun way for children to learn about other countries.
The adventure begins with this little suitcase and a letter from the two characters who take part in traveling the world, Sam and Sophia. There is also a world wall map and with consecutive kits, your child would be sent stickers to put on the map and track where Sam and Sophia have been.
A travel passport is included for you to put your child’s picture in and future stickers to be added every month. There are also stickers sent in each kit to decorate the suitcase and a boarding pass that has a secret code to access the Boarding Zone area of the Little Passports website. A page of activities is included and if your child solves them, it will reveal where Sam and Sophia are headed off in the next month’s kit.
My five-year-old has an interest in the world and the relationship of where things are in comparison to where she lives, like finding her cousins in Texas or trying to understand where other parts of the world from an occasional blurb on television. The suitcase provided is very cute. It has a metal handle and latch. It appears to be made of maybe a heavy non-corrugated cardboard or chipboard.
I helped my daughter complete the activity sheet in order to find out where Sam and Sophia would travel next. We have to try out the Boarding Zone yet online for games. This kit was a great way to teach a little geography to my daughter and provided lots of excitement the day Little Passports arrived for her.
Little Passports is recommended for children 5-10 years of age.
