Light in the Box Under $200 Special Occasion Outfit Review

Disclosure:  I received the outfit in this post in exchange for an honest review.

Light in the Box is a global online retailer with affordable items in home improvement, electronics, fashion and beauty supplies and services like Kodiac Clean Pressure Wash.  Their products are available for purchase worldwide.

I was asked to share with you how Light In the Box can help find your dream dress, shoes, and handbag for under $200.  LightintheBox.com features glamorous special occasion dresses, elegant evening gowns, bridal, and even cocktail dresses with a little bit of attitude.

I was excited to try out a dress that I could potentially use on a date night with my hubby.  The dress came wrapped in tissue paper and packaged in a plastic bag with a zip closure.  This is a sheath/column sweetheart short/mini chiffon bridesmaids dress in burgundy.  It retails for $97.99 in US dollars for their standard sizes up to a size 16.  There is an additional fee for 16W and above or for custom sizes.

Typically I wear a size 16.  I matched the bust size and just assumed this dress would fit me.  I could get it on, but was unable to zip it up completely.  I am 5’6″ and the length fell mid-thigh.  When I looked back at the measurements for a size 16, the waist and hips were smaller than my measurements.  I should have ordered a custom size for my pear shape.  This dress is beautiful in color and style, but please be aware that you MUST check your measurements before ordering and there is a video on how to check your measurements.

I thought the quality was great.  Here are some close-ups of the closure and finished seams.

The pumps seemed to be put together well.  I can not find the original link to this particular pump, but I would say they are the closest to the Compact Leatherette Stiletto Pumps that are currently $34.99 in US dollars.

I thought these were cute shoes and I usually wear a size 9.  That’s what I mentioned for the order, but I felt like one of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters trying to try on the glass slipper.  It was too short for my feet!  I couldn’t find a size printed on the shoes.

The leopard print evening handbag/clutch was in the color of almond.  It’s about 11″ long and 5 1/2″ tall so you can fit a fair amount in it.  It has a closure on the top and retails for $19.99 in US dollars.  I look forward to using this clutch in the future and incorporating it with other outfits in my wardrobe.

Overall, I think Light in the Box (LITB) has great quality, but you must watch the sizes.  Don’t assume you can just order what you normally wear and I don’t know what to suggest to make the shoes fit.

The prices for these three items is $152.97.  Expedited shipping (3-5 days) is $23.17 to my door or standard shipping, which takes longer at 6-8 days is more, $39.40.  Shipping insurance is an additional $2.99.
