Kylie Minogue, singer, songwriter, actress, and showgirl, is celebrating 25 years in music with the release of The Abbey Road Sessions. This album was recorded in London at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with her band and a full orchestra. It features 16 of Kylie’s classic songs, all reconstructed and stripped of there previous pop format.
The Abbey Road Sessions features her first single, “The Loco-Motion”, which hit #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed there for 13 weeks in September 1988. This album also includes “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” (2001) and “I Should Be So Lucky” (1988). There is also a previously unreleased track of “Flower” that she wrote years after dealing with her battle with breast cancer and as an ode to the child she hopes to have one day.
I have always admired the sound of Kylie Minogue. I was a kid when she first soared charts in the U.S. The Abbey Road Sessions is such a different take on the classics I have known by Kylie. These tracks are great for relaxing and just to admire her new sound. This collection is beautifully orchestrated and often features acoustic sounds with Kylie’s smooth and sultry vocals.
The Abbey Road Sessions adds a new layer of depth to the talent and overall versatility of Kylie Minogue. It’s hard to believe she is the same artist with “Timebomb”, which was her 6th consecutive @ single on Billboard’s Hot Club Play Chart earlier this year. This album would be a great stocking stuffer, great easy listening, or a must for any Kylie Minogue fan.
