Here’s a fun product to make special occasions and holidays unique called Hoppy Paws. The creator of this product wanted to start a family tradition with her three daughters 20 years ago for Easter. She would stencil a bunny footprint and make tracks to the girls’ Easter baskets. Neighbors caught wind over her cute creation and asked for it in their homes too and that is Hoppy Paws began.
I received three Hoppy Paws kits pictured above. Now we don’t have a stork visiting our house hopefully ever again or I would have a LOT of explaining to do to my spouse, but I thought my oldest daughter and I could try this kit for fun to see how Hoppy Paws was to use. I look forward to leaving reindeer and bunny tracks when the holidays come around again with my oldest in on the surprise.
Each kit comes with a foam footprint stamp mounted on a cardboard back, plastic mixing tray, and a bag of secret food grade powder mix.
Empty the powder in the tray and slowly add roughly 1/3 cup water. Depending upon altitude and humidity, you may need a little more or a little less water. The mixture should turn out having the consistency of paint. If it is too runny, the instructions say to wait overnight until the water has evaporated and slowly add in the water again.
The footprint backing has tabs in the corners that say to bend back. Do this step before placing the stamp into the mixture.
There is a convenient plastic handle on the back of the stamp. Dip the stamp into the mixture, about 1/4″ deep. Then remove from the tray and lightly press paw prints onto the desired surface.
My daughter thought it would be fun to end the trail like it was coming out from under the bed.
For maximum effect, you should let your paw prints dry for approximately 20 minutes. Per tips on the website: you can apply a blow dryer for faster drying time and Q-tips may be used to lightly clean up edges of the prints. Then discard the contents of the kit.
Clean-up to remove the paw prints or if you have a little “oops” when stamping can easily be done with water or a damp cloth. My six-year-old thought she could step on the paw prints later that night, but it did spread the material and smudged the prints so avoid walking on them to keep them looking pretty.
Usually I watch Shark Tank, but I must have missed the episode with Hoppy Paws. The Hoppy Paws website is advertising a Shark Tank special of free shipping until May 31. There are many kits by Hoppy Paws to select from.
Hoppy Paws currently makes kits for the following:
- Easter Bunny
- Leprechaun
