I was against having an electric deep fryer in the home because of the mess and the potential of not being so good for a person’s health. I saw a sale at Kohl’s this winter and thought I’d give one another try. There are just some foods I really enjoy as a treat that are made in a deep fryer.
One easy food I like to create at home are cream cheese wontons. To make, you just need wonton wrappers, sesame seed oil, 8 oz. cream cheese, and 1 tsp. powdered sugar. Along with that, just having oil in the fryer. Heat fryer to 375 degrees.
I mixed 8 oz. softened cream cheese in a bowl with 1 tsp. powdered sugar. Then lay a few wonton wrappers flat on some waxed paper.
Place 1 tsp. cream cheese sugar combo in the center of a wrapper. Then dip finger in sesame oil and dab with oil at each corner.
Start gathering two opposite corners and press firmly together.
Then do the same with the other two opposite corners.
Place in fryer that has been heated to 375 degrees and cook until lightly brown.
Mine took about 1-2 minutes to fry so keep a close eye on them. Try not to stack when cooking in the fryer. Drain on paper towels and enjoy. Recipe makes 20 cream cheese wontons.
