Disclosure: I received a black and white Holdaplate in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was received.
If you do entertaining in the home, this is a neat invention to check out. Holdaplate is plateware that allows the party attendee to eat and shake hands, text, share a few hand gestures to tell a story – free a hand gracefully.
Holdaplate was created by an inventor from Philadelphia named John Zox. He thought about a design to take on challenges of a meet ‘n’ greet he attended. This product is patented and officially went on sale May 24, 2013 at www.holdaplate.com. It is made in a variety of materials – from heavy-duty recyclable plastic and commercial-grade porcelain to compostable paper and eco-friendly bamboo.
A lot of the plate’s appeal comes from its simplicity. It has a subtle contour called LipGrip™, which allows for a cup of any size to easily nestle alongside. Holdaplate is held in place by the user’s index finger and supported effortlessly by the remaining fingers below. It is currently offered in a 6″ version. Larger sizes will soon become available. The 6″ plate is generally top shelf dishwasher and microwave safe. Holdaplate is BPA free.
I tried Holdaplate out with a wine glass because I assumed the stem would make it one of the more difficult obstacles of drinkware. I was surprised at how it streamlined holding food and drink in just one hand. I look forward to see Holdaplate marketed in a larger size of plate.
