With Easter  already this next weekend, I recently reviewed a product would be a nice candy-free option to gift to children.  They are called Hide’em and Hatch’em Eggs and are labeled for children ages 3 and above.  This product is from SCS Direct.

Hide’em and Hatch’em Eggs come as three pastel colored eggs per box.  You can gift them in a child’s basket or even have them hidden for children to find.  They hatch out to a duck, chick, or bunny.

Instructions to use Hide’em and Hatch’em Eggs:

1. Put the egg in a container and fill with room temperature water.  The water level should touch the uppermost section of the egg.

I did take and hold the egg down in the water to let the water enter inside the egg.  There is one hole on the top of the egg and two holes on the base.  I tried letting the egg just sit in the cup for a while, but it continued to float on the top.

2.  The eggshell will begin to slowly break after 6-12 hours.  Over the next day, the pet will begin to grow at hatch out of its shell.

Here is one of the eggs after 14 hours.

3.  After the eggshell is broken entirely, empty and change the water.

I had to help the little critters out of the shell.  There were just several superficial cracks on the eggs after 14 hours.  The little animals were a bit slimy when initially taken out of the shell.  I rinsed them off with water and then they were no longer slippery to handle.

4.  You can keep your pet in the container of water and watch it continue to grow, or remove to play with your surprise new friend.

My daughters could not wait to play with them.

Outside of taking longer than the directions stated to hatch, these little critters were great entertainment for my children.
