Hallmark Recordable Storybooks Review

January 27, 2013 by Karen

In December, I took a solo trip out of state to visit family and my husband played a single parent to our three children while I was away.  I had the opportunity to make and record my voice in a Recordable Storybook from Hallmark so I could still read to my children while being physically absent.  The title of the Hallmark Recordable Storybook I had received for review  was DC Super Friends:  You’re a Hero!  All the Ways You Save the Day.

The instructions were easy to follow. To start, find a quiet place to record and lay the book flat, about 12-18 inches away from you.  Unscrew the battery compartment and slide the switch to UNLOCK.

Turn to the page you wish to record and press REC.  Wait for the prompt and then read slowly and clearly.  After recording each page, your recorded voice and the prerecorded music will play back by itself.  If you are satisfied, simply turn the page to continue or press REC to rerecord your voice.

A dedication page has also been included where can record a personal message.  When you have finished recording the entire book, save the recordings by sliding the switch to LOCK.  Screw the cover to the battery compartment back on.  If you need to change batteries at some point, don’t worry, your recordings will not be erased.

If for some reason you need to erase all recorded audio, you can unscrew the battery compartment and slide the switch to UNLOCK.  Press REC and STOP at the same time and hold for 4 seconds to erase and reset the recordings.

Hallmark’s Recordable Storybooks have a suggested retail of $29.95 and include three AAA batteries.  To learn more about the Recordable Storybooks from Hallmark, visit www.Hallmark.com/Storybook.  There are currently over 20 titles to select from, which range from classics, Disney title, to Hallmark originals.  “Read to loved ones…even if you can’t be there.”
