Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF), a national nonprofit 501(c) 3 dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer, is launching the first-ever Great Cycle Challenge USA (GCC-USA).
The inaugural GCC-USA is a national event that encourages riders of all fitness levels and ages to pedal throughout the month of June and log their miles while raising vital funding for cancer research. Participants take part in the challenge across the United States by setting a distance goal and tracking progress via the free Great Cycle Challenge app.
Registration is free and opens April 8. Participants who register by April 24 are entered to win a Greg LeMond Washoe bicycle valued at more than $3,100. Participants can begin soliciting fundraising support from family and friends right away. The organization hopes to raise $1 million during the course of the campaign. Money raised from GCC-USA will fund vital research at the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center, which is internationally recognized as one of the top research institutions in the world investigating childhood cancer.
“We were looking for a way to involve our many supporters around the country and Great Cycle Challenge was a perfect fit. After all, cycling is something so many people can do. It’s fun, easy and inclusive,” says John Hallberg, Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Cancer Research Fund. “We hope that GCC-USA will inspire advocates around the country to get involved with our mission to cure childhood cancer.”
Whether a traditional outdoor cyclist, a stationary bike rider or a spin enthusiast, all forms of cycling are welcomed for GCC-USA. Participation is free and not limited by age or ability.
