Unfortunately, with our basement flooding, I have been slowed down on sharing this wonderful new skin care line called Genuinely Simple with you. I received some of their products to try and they are A-MAZ-ING! Let me tell you about the products and then share what Genuinely Simply has done for my icky heel problem.
Genuinely Simple was created by founder and CEO, Laura Bellefontaine. This is a family owned and operated artisan manufacturing company. Their mission is to produce products that are made by hand, which are high quality, non-GMO, and improve the lives of their customers.
Laura discovered the amazing healing benefits of an herb called comfrey while working with a naturopathic doctor in Australia. What is comfrey? It’s a perennial herb that contains a tiny organic molecule called allantoin. Allantoin is thought to jump-start cell growth and repair. It is also noted to decrease inflammation. Comfrey is only for topical use and should not be ingested. It is high in calcium, potassium, protein, vitamins A, C, and B12. Comfrey has been used for sprains, joint stiffness, pain in the joins or muscles, and basic wound care.
Genuinely Simply has invented Comfrey Cream. It is made with comfrey root and leaf, Calendula flowers, olive oil, shea butter and Candelilla wax. The top and bottom bottles in the picture above are lavender and peppermint scented with essential oils. The multi-use Comfrey Cream in the center is un-scented. All of the herbs used are organic. The bottles are available in a 1 oz. size with a suggested retail price of $6.99. A little bit goes a long ways with Comfrey Cream.
Genuinely Simple Lotion Bars are made with comfrey root and leaf, Calendula flowers, olive oil, shea butter, and Candelilla wax. The lotion bars stay a solid at room temp, but when applied to your skin, a thin layer melts and lotion can then be absorbed through the skin. Applications suggested for the hard lotion are: cracked skin, split heels, alligator legs, or rough elbows. Lotion Bars available in a 1 oz. size with a suggested retail of $5.99 and 2.5 oz. size for $9.99.
The lotion bars came on a day that was 81 degrees outside and were left in the mailbox until about 5 p.m. so they became a little soft and misshaped. They still work well. Genuinely Simple Lotion Bars not lather like you would expect a regular bar of soap, but seems to gently clean and leave the skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
Okay, now onto my personal matter. My heels have been a sore subject for now probably at least a couple of years. My house is heated during the Minnesota winters and I like to wear flip-flops and other open back shoes when out in the yard and messing around in the garden. We spend a lot of time in our vegetable garden. The breathable shoes and dry, heated house have wreaked havoc on my heels. 🙁 Cracked heels hurt!
I received Genuinely Simple products on May 31 and have probably applied the Comfrey Cream four to five days a week. I sometimes get busy and forget. I applied the various types of Comfrey Cream at night, just before cuddling up under the sheets. I tried other lotions and skin creams specifically for dry skin in the past. I got grossed out by the oily feeling they left on my skin and could not stand going under the covers until my feet felt dry, which took forever so I didn’t stick with applying like I should have. Yea, I’m weird.
Well, Comfrey Cream looks like a thick yellow translucent cream that actually looks oily when it’s initially applied to the skin. Surprisingly, it doesn’t give me the “ew” factor like other lotions have. I can sleep with it on and rest my feet. Here is the same heel a few hours earlier in the day that I took the other day (6/22) and the Comfrey Cream is the only thing I have applied to them. Did you know that you have to be a bit of a contortionist to get an in-focus picture of your own heel? Anyway… maybe publicly wearing flip-flops will be again in my future someday soon thanks to Genuinely Simple. 🙂 Please read below. Genuinely Simple is seeking your support –

I have the same problem with my heels. Been applying Vaseline and it works but if I forget to apply my dry and cracked heels return. How about this?

Thank you for the reply! From what I have read, Vaseline is great to protect, but it does not penetrate down to heal the skin. I have been very impressed so far by Comfrey Cream. The Lotion Bars, which I have only used on my hands so far, are recommended for cracked heels too.
