We grill year round (yes, even go out in the snow) at our house in Minnesota. I recently tried out the Frazoni Digital Cooking Thermometer to reach the ideal temp when cooking.
It has a battery compartment in the back and you will need to supply one AA battery. I thought at first that it needed two batteries, but the instructions say one and it did power up then so maybe the slot below the battery is to store an additional battery? I am not sure.
This thermometer is equipped with a fold out stand on the back to prop or you can hang the unit. Before using, simply clean the probe with warm water and soap. You never want to immerse the equipment in water.
There is a jack on the side to plug in the probe with the main unit. You can select the Frazoni Digital Cooking Thermometer to read either Fahrenheit or Celsius with a small button on the backside.
To use the thermometer, you will want to try to place the probe in the thickest part of the meat. Placing in bone or fat with skew the results. This thermometer allows you to set the cooking time or target temperature, which is a nice feature. There is an alert button that can be set and will beep when the temperature is reached too.
The probe cable should not come in contact with the flames and try not to pinch or crush the cable with the grill cover. You don’t have to open the lid to view the temperature with the Frazoni Digital Thermometer.
When cooking has been completed, the probe can be removed from the food with a cloth or mitt because it will be hot to the touch. It reads 32ºF to 572ºF. Simply wash off the probe when it has cooled.
The Frazoni Digital Cooking Thermometer can be purchased on Amazon.com. Along with cooking on the grill, it can be used in the oven and for checking food temps prepared on a range. This product currently has a retail price of just $14.95 and has a 1 year product guarantee.
