Ferdinand is a cute new movie out from the same creators who brought you Ice Age and Rio. This title is available on digital and was recently released out on Blu-ray and DVD.
In the story of Ferdinand (John Cena), a young bull is growing up with a group of calves on a ranch called Casa del Toro in Spain. The other young bulls pick on Ferdinand because he wants to be kind and gentle and has a love of flowers. Ferdinand runs away from the ranch after his father, Raf, does not return from a bullfight he was picked for and after one of the other young bulls smashes his favorite flower.
Ferdinand runs away to a florist’s farm and creates a great friendship with his daughter, Nina. Time goes by and Ferdinand reaches young adulthood. He is a gentle giant.
The florist, his daughter, and family dog have to go into town for the annual flower festival without Ferdinand for fear that people will be scared of his size. Ferdinand later ventures into town on his own and gets stung by a bee. This causes him to accidentally destroy many items in the small nearby town. He is then taken back to Casa del Toro.
At the ranch, the other bulls that Ferdinand knew from the past have also grown up. The young bulls are led to believe that being picked to be in the arena for a bullfight is an honor, but Ferdinand discovers the real truth while befriending a misfit team of animals. Will he be able to help the other bulls and himself before it is too late?
This title is based on the classic children’s book, The Story of Ferdinand. It is rated PG and has a run time of 107 minutes.
